Brandan Wright. Oden is like 40 yrs old, and Durant is too effeminate to last in the league.

I'd take Oden because he is ambidextrous and a solid big man is necessary to win in the NBA. Durant will fade out with the rest of them, I think Oden will stick around. He plays O like Timmah but plays D a little more athletically. Durant should play another year at TX but it is too late for that.

I'll be happy to see my Sonics get either or but I think I'd prefer Durant quite honestly. Seattle's drafted 7 footers in each of the last 3 years in the 1st round. They'll sign Durant then hopefully sign and trade Rashard Lewis for something else to help them out.
All just in time for the Sonics to move to Oklahoma City

Oden... and living in Portland I'm glad to see the blazers with that opportunity. I was a HUGE blazer fan late 80's / early 90's. Even mid to late 90's when they made another couple runs. But putting together a team with Wallace, JR Rider.. even Wells - and the poor decisions made by the front office year after year under whitsitt... I'm actually excited about the direction of the team over the last two years... and Oden with the number one pick is just what the city needs.
Oden is a Tim Duncan type of player - a franchise-changer. Portland is no longer looking at a run 4-5 years down the road... they'll be looking to make things happen a lot sooner than that - with Oden in the middle.

So the lottery is done with. And we saw that Oden was first. A fine choice becuase it is hard to get a talented center.
Several things.
1. I can't believe that Zach is going to the Knicks (to compete for the same spot as eddie Curry) and get Steve Francis in return. I hope the buy out Steve Francis and get rid of him. He is terrible and he has been terrible since he left Orlando Magic.
2. Allen going to the Celtics. I can't believe that any player worth his salt will go to Boston (sry kitty)
3. To who that said they like Brandon Wright. I live in Chapel Hill and watch every game that was played at home (went to two games, rest of TV) and he is very over hyped. I'm sure he has potential, but he just doesn't come to play every day. If the money can motivate him, then sure, he can be a top 10 draft choice, but I think he will be like Penny H., be good for a short time with talent, but not put in the time necessary to be that good of a player.

Ahem... It's Brandan Wright, not Brandon. I too, live in Chappy. I still say "fear the condor"... Once he beefs up a bit and corrects his mid range shot.

It's BS that Zabian Dowdell didn't get drafted by someone. He's a good guard,, and I hope to see him sign and do well somewhere.

He will sign somewhere and have a chance but he had a HUGE factor working against him. He wasn't 1st round material and all 2nd round players drafted after about 35 are seen as long shots. Complete shots in the dark. So with that in mind the players often taken are only chosen for 2 reasons. 1 the rare one that they don't actually plan on the guy making the team because they don't wanna spend any more money. Or the big one, that they know beyond a shadow of a doubt they can put the guy on the floor and he'll take up space and not hurt them too bad. Meaning its usually big guys. The uncoordinated, skinny, fat, unathletic guys by NBA standards. Just because they can clog the lane or hack away if need be without being a turnover risk because they'll be touching the ball.
Dowdell isn't a big guy. He's seen as somewhat of a project and NBA teams don't like teaching. They only do it for young kids just to keep them from going somewhere else. Dowdell, if I remember correctly is sort of a tweener guard. He's not quick enough to hang with the point guards in the league but doesn't quite have the size or the deep shot to overcome that.
Good luck to him, he was a solid college player, but he's stuck in the same position 6'7-6'8 forwards with big bodies are. They just don't have positions for them in traditional NBA sets. They're either too short, or too slow and just don't have "the it factor" to overcome it. He'll go to someone's summer league camp, but unless he's lucky and lands with just the right team he has no chance.

who do u guys think got the best deals in the draft watching espn and they say chicago and portland game out winners after the draft

Seattle did well if they can mangage to get something for Rashard Lewis and dont' lose him for nothing to free agency. And they need to pick up a back court help still. I was pissed they didn't use their 31st pick in the draft to snatch up either Taurean Green from UF or Derrick Byars from Vandy. I think those 2 were 2nd round steals. That and now that they traded Ray allen for what amounts to Jeff Green their top 6-7 players are all forwards. I don't know how you can win like that.
Portland did great but they are gonna find real quick that no team can win with Steve Francis. Never have never will. For their sake I hope he only comes off the bench and in rare occassions. There is no way he should be taking the ball out of Brandon Roy's hands on pick and roll situations. Also, after losing Randolph they are gonna be hurting for scoring in the post til Oden develops an offensive game. I see years before he can score 20 or more a game. What they will do in the mean time I have no idea
I don't see what Chicago did that was so special. They had a great team last year that was only missing some low post scoring and someone to spell the point. They didnt get either despite being the only lottery team with a winning record. Noah will give them depth inside but he's not gonna be as good as Ben Wallace and it'll be interesting to see how they manage their lineup around Wallace, Noah, Sweetney, Tyrus Thomas, PJ Brown and Andres Noccioni all needing minutes at the 4. Noccioni was huge for them last year as a scorer. I dont see how they could take minutes away from him.
I guess that means I'm not too impressed with what anyone did :$ Although I think the Sonics are only a sign and trade of Rashard Lewis away from looking like they had the best offseason ever. Unless that happens they have the worst back court in the NBA

Yeah I heard. They'll try and work out a sign and trade deal I'm sure in the next week or so before he can officially sign but the Magic don't have anything worthwhile. Sounds like the Sonics will officially have the worst backcourt in the NBA. PG's Luke Ridnour, Mike Wilks and Earl Watson. SG's Delonte West and Randy Livingston. They'll be lucky for that entire bunch to average 20 points and 10 assists per game. And they are royally fucked if Delonte West gets injured........ but of course its pretty fucked to actually think he's that important. But damn they are one injury away from Randy Livingston being the starting 2 guard. Mr. 11 years in the league and has only played in 200 games. And 2 of those 11 years logged him 143 games. I just did some math on Randy Livingstons entire career numbers and if you add up all his points, assists and rebounds over 11 seasons and pretend it was just one season... He only would have averaged 9.4 points, 5 assists, and 3.4 rebounds, and a near 1:2 assist to turnoever ratio. Those would be great numbers for a backup guard over 1 year, but sadly its 11 years.
Damn I hope Durant is fun to watch because I see a lot of 20 point losses on the horizon.
