View Full Version : Oddthought Poker Tourney?

Ok so been talking to a few people and had another chat with rit today and basically been looking at seeing if its viable to do a Oddthought Poker Tourney.

Now i would have loved to invest some money and buy a program/site for it but its not viable. So a alternative is this.

At full tilt (we notice quite a few people here are members) you are able to request setting up of private tourneys.

There are choices to the games and limits but they have to be set in stone before it starts.

So were thinking of asking to have one set up, $5 + 0.50 ( we can also do $3 +0.50 or go to higher amounts) to enter and first 3 spots (or possibly more if enough join) get paid.

You need to note that the $5 gets put in the main pot and the 0.50 cents is taken by Full Tilt to cover the running of the tourney!.

I only want to set this up if A: enough people are REALLY interested aka don't say yes and then decide no becuase we have to be realistic and fair to the players AND full tilt!.

Requirments are:
That you have a full tilt account.
That you have the .com side loaded (note if you have downloaded and registered a .net account, when you download the .com side program it can use the same information as the .net program).
Also for those that have to sign up a new account the first deposit is $50.

Specifically, Full Tilt Poker does the following to prevent underage play on our site:

Requires all new users to agree to our Terms and Conditions and click a separate check box confirming they are at least 18-years of age at the time of account creation
Collects the name, address, and birth date to confirm their personal details
Full Tilt Poker uses Integrity Age Verification Services to ensure that all players are of legal age to play online at our site
Integrity’s software works by verifying standard issue driver license or other government-issued ID of citizens of 157 nations
Integrity keeps all information strictly confidential and does not sell or share any information with third parties

So as you can see for some this is a easy matter and for some it just ain't possible (including me I might add as i cannot afford the bloody deposit).

However if there is real interest from enough of you guys I will have it set up.

Also note if enough people do want to play we can expand prizes with donation codes for oddthought.

were talking about doing a cash tourney so it wont be free.

I'd be up for it Jacx,

However isn't there the slight problem that ity is now illegal for any one in the US to gamble on internet sites ( as I understand it).

I don't have a Full Tilt account but would happily open one to take part , any idea what there sign on bonuses are just now ??

in order to make a real money account u need to deposit a minimum of $50 into it first, then an additional $0.50 per player to run a private tourny, so jacx is gunna try and cut us a deal with full tilt (Y) :)

Its not illegal, however there are issues with getting funds in and out of your accounts...but fulltilt offer links to companies that can do that for u.

Basically u need a online visa account for getting ur winnings back into ur bacnk account.

and yeh i figure this aint gonna work well. The first time depost is a pain, so the alternative is to try and get them to give us a freeroll...depends on what they are gonna charge us...im waiting for that info.

Ok im not to interested in doing a 50 deposit, buti would however gladly make a dw donation towards whatever they charge for the free roll, like and entree fee sort of speak, and that way all the kids can play too, money prizes would go on donation codes and that way Rit doesn't really have to fork out much money if any at all.

I am interested and I like Carlos' idea. I don't really wanna throw down $50 on a site just so I can play one game with the oddthought crew. I would be willingly to make a smal DW's donation if that option could be worked out.

if its a freeroll u dont need to put down $50, although its $0.5 per person to run a freeroll i think, and thats nothing so maybe we can open say a paypal account were everyone can use it and forward the money to jacx so he can pay for the freeroll and get it going :D

or you can just play on pokerstars.com where they just cut ya a check and u get it in 1-2 weeks if its under $1,000 and overnite it if its over that. and minimum deposit is $10. i think this would be more appropriate and cause less of a head ache on the actual $50 deposit.

but more of a headache meaning we'd have to get everyone to play pokerstars :)

that wouldnt be that hard and more people would wanna do it cuz the deposits way lower. and theres no issues with gettin ur money back if u live in the U.S. considering alot of people aint gunna play a real money tourny with a $50 deposit when the alternative could be $10 deposit....

Just sign up for epassporte. (Full Tilt accepts this payment from US citizens too)

Deposit your initial $50, play the $5 tourny, then cash out your balance right back to your bank account or credit card.

It's really not as complicated as everyone is making it out to be.

Anyway.....cash or freeroll....count me in. (tho i prefer cash  )

Full Contact Poker also has play money private tournaments. Me, Colz, BRR, Tim and KS played there once (with a few others I think)....why not just do play money to get everyone's feet wet?
