I dont think it's bad. It puts a whole different spin on the song and would probably appeal to lots of people that wouldnt listen to the r&b version.

She turned it into an emo college-alt rock lesbian whine.....it lost all it's edge. The "ella ella ella" sounds ridiculous now.
But what really got me was her little snarky comment at the beginning about how she "doesn't usually listen to this kind of music"
How condescending. If I was Rhianna, I'd be pissed. Talk about a back-handed comment.
Here's the Rhianna live version. 1000 times better in my opinion:

plus RIHANNA is 1000x times hotter than Mandy Moore.. and anybody who sang Candy has no room to talk..
I mean how deep is this.. really..
So baby come to me
Show me who you are
Sweet to me
Like sugar to my heart
I'm cravin' for you
I'm missin' you like candy

It's soothing music. There's nothing more to say. Can't hate or like it.

it's just a thing Yahoo does with other artist. It lets other genre artist put their own spin on a popular song.
