I recently went on vacation/holiday and was a little shocked at how rude people have become. No one held doors for me as I am struggling with 2 small kids. No one says excuse me when they almost knock you over. And what foul language!! I was with my mother who blushes anytime someone was the F word. And she was red almost the entire week! My children are really to young to understand bad language. However, were they a bit older, I would have to explain things to them.
So, is it like this where you are? Or was I at a particularly nasty place?

Ya know I always do stuff like that..A little civility goes a long way! I will admit I can be a bit foul mouthed though...Especially when I drive...

driving is about the only time i get in a foul mood with people around here.Usually at a store or any place public they will open the door for u, i know i always open them if someone is close behind me and hold it until they all pass thru. Far as the cussing thing, let them know u have kids around and u don't like it. My father used to do that all the time, What was funny was when my dad was mad with someone he always said "I ADVISE YOU" if he ever told my brothers or me that we knew we were in trouble.

Beli..I have to admit I have the mouth of a sailor, even in public  BUT...I really can't stand people who are pushy or agressive in crowds and malls and such. My worst pet peeve is when someone will cut in front of me in line or push their way to the front, and when you try to say something to them they turn around a shrug and *pretend* they don't speak English, lol. No habla Ingles....

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

oh i am not a Saint by any fucking means. i can probably out fucking cuss most sailors and in 5 languages. but i wouldn't be looking directly at a child and continue to say Fuck this and Fuck that. and i am pretty good at stumbling my own fucking way through a door with 2 kids, a stroller, a dipaer bag and a purse.
but i try not to cuss in front of people who i think might be fucking offended. just like i wouldn't smoke inside the house of someone who is a fucking non smoker.
i just wanted some fuckin input if was still considered rude.

I have to say I don't notice rudeness too often, but the other day when at the children's hospital... I was in the lil surgery area where the parents wait while thier child is in surgery and they had this lil area set up with tables and it had snack machines ect... it was a pretty small enclosed room, but it had the telephone for you to make outbound calls. Seated at the table right next to the phone were these three young girls probably between 18 and 21. They were cussing very loudly mind you, and when I went to make a call to my mother to let her know my daughter was now in surgery and how long it was suppose to be, they continued to cuss the whole time I'm on the phone... Fuck this and Fuck that... I was honestly embarassed to have my mom on the phone hearing that. I don't know, it really put me off. I mean not only was I trying to use the phone but it was a Children's Hospital for goodness sake.

well i guess i will have to visit Minnesota then. (actually my dad grew up there in Upsula) i was in Mendocino California for my vacation. i always try to treat people the way i would want to be treated. at last count, i have been to i think 33 countries. i do have to admit that people in the UK are quite friendly. Canada too. France, well they were nice to me anyway. Japan treated us great. Well really, I haven't ran into a problem before. this was just so obvious i guess cause my mom was there. thanks all for you input :) more comments welcome

It's like that almost everywhere now Beli. Decent people are the minority.

It's not everybody though... there are some decent people still living on this planet!! Dont despair...

Wow, what a fucked up place :S

typically, people here are kinda polite, some are downright assholes, but they get shuttup by people pretty fast, go figure, i hold doors open for people, don't cuss in public, hell i try not to swear in front of females as much as possible, you'd be suprised, a few manners goes along way in the world

yea i know.. Even if i'm eating fastfood or somewhere and they're done i offer to take there trays/ trash and ect. i guess i was just raised that way and haven't thought otherwise about it... and for the cussing in public i do cuss but not in public because it shows a bad representation of yourself to others that don't know you
