So yeah I was trying a few solutions to get my limewire working from reading over their forums (still doesn't work).

One of the solutions invloved uninstalling Java and downloading other versions of it etc.

Well I did that about 3 times with no luck. After I tried everything and it still not working I uninstalled Java again and reverted to the latest version. A little bit later I noticed I had 31Gigs left of hardrive space left:/

I know for a fact I started with 42. I am running windows Vista and uh yeah I am kinda dumbfounded as to why this is. I deleted everything, ran a search and deleted any files related to Java I could find yet it still does not give me my 12 gigs back. Tried going on a few forums to find out what made it do that but nothing, if anyone has any insight to this or can find anything on the net that I haven't been able to let me know.

*UGH* sometimes the only thing you can do is start working your way down the files at the root of C: and getting the properties. If a folder seems abnormally large.. drill into it and do it again.

What you can do is go in the search option and do the search without writing a name, just used the option for the weight of a folder, type like 20000 KB and this will search for all the folders or files over this weight... or you can do it folder by folder like Dymond said...:P

Well I figured it out guys. Apparently the geniuses at Microsoft saw fit to create a restore point everytime you uninstall or install even the most miniscule things with Windown Vista, I did not know this till I had a hunch and checked it just now.

So since installing and uninstalling Java all those times I had nearly 10gigs worth of restore points. GG

The restore points are gone and so is the whole restore process, always seemed useless to a computer like mine and just another useless resource eater.

I know a lot of people are skeptical about using system cleaners...

But this one is one of the better ones that I have found that doesn't contain any adware and does a good job of cleaning out un-necessary crap and finding space you never knew you had.

It can also be used to safely clean your systems registry.

I use CCleaner too, its user-friendly and effective.

No sys restore, no auto updates, no firewall, no anti-virus, less installations (try to use portable apps), no system tweakers, less system cleaners (if you have no debris, you need no cleaners)... and you live a quiet life. It's my 10-15 years experience.
And yeah... no porn sites but http://play.treadon.us ;)

Yeh I've had all of em disabled, it's better. But I forgot about the system restore when I got Vista, prolly cause it's harder to find.

Yeah you've got to dig into a few menus to find it.
