Something quick that isn't "FAST Food".
Was thinking of various things I have done to modify certain foods to make them more appealing to my kids, or to make them more palatable for myself or my husband. It's funny how you can change things by adding, deleting, or altering an ingredient or two.
Share your tips for food preparation methods that might make the rest of us go "*hmmm* I'm gonna have to try that." Short cuts are also welcomed here. *grin*
I have started to shake up the Jello a bit. Don't laugh. You can make jigglers, but if you add carbonated soda water in place of the cold water it tastes almost fizzy...or you can use juice in place of the cold water. I used Blueberry and Pomegranate in Strawberry Jello. Yummy. I used to use half the sugar when I made it, but now all the boxes are either pre-sugared, or they are made with Aspartame. I also like to precut my entire pan into small squares, so that when they are served they remain cute and neat. The kids love the bite sized pieces, and you can always make it into dessert by adding a little whipped cream.
Tip:
When you need chopped onion for a dish, rather than just cut half of it off, try chopping the whole onion. Use what you need, and then place the remaining portion in a ziptop baggy for easy access. You can use plastic containers, but I find they tend to absorb the odor more readily.
